The "Circular Economy Development Strategy and Near-term Action Plan" released by the State Council in 2013 pointed out: improving resource utilization efficiency, promoting the transformation of resources from low-value use to high-value use, and enhancing the added value of recycled products; advancing the recycling of waste non-ferrous metals, and promoting the high-value utilization of recycled metals such as copper and aluminum. Directly preparing high-quality recycled brass products from waste copper scraps not only solves the problems of insufficient resource supply and the comprehensive utilization of "urban mines", but also provides the society with the required high-precision and environmentally friendly copper alloy materials, yielding significant economic benefits and social effects in energy conservation and emission reduction. However, in the research and development process of using waste copper as raw material to directly manufacture brass alloy products, there are several technical challenges that need to be tackled, including the removal of non-metallic particles and the fine classification of impurity particles in copper-containing waste, the control of melt composition during the alloying process using pretreated waste copper as raw material, and the control of deformation behavior and mechanical properties of copper alloys during plastic deformation processing. In recent years, our company has been conducting basic research on common technologies in the field of green production and quality-assured manufacturing of waste copper. In 2013, the project "Research and Application of Key Technologies for Green and Quality-Assured Recycling and Manufacturing of Waste Copper Resources" applied for by our company was approved and listed as a key scientific and technological research project in Ningbo by the Ningbo Science and Technology Bureau. During the implementation of the project, the company strictly carried out relevant research and trial production work according to the project tasks and objectives, and allocated the necessary resources. After two years of implementation, all indicators have been met. On September 18, 2015, the Ningbo Science and Technology Bureau organized experts to conduct a meeting review of the project. The expert group listened to the project implementation summary report, reviewed the relevant materials, and after inquiry and discussion, unanimously agreed that the project had completed the task requirements stipulated in the contract and approved the acceptance.
Through the implementation of this project, the company has tackled the key technologies for green and quality-assured recycling and manufacturing of waste copper resources, and developed advanced process technologies and equipment, effectively ensuring product quality improvement, further enhancing the company's equipment automation level, and accelerating the process of "replacing humans with machines". As an important part of strategic emerging industries, the comprehensive utilization of resources highlights its significance. This project aligns with national industrial policies, and the company will continue to promote the application of project research results to facilitate the development of China's resource recycling sector, advance energy conservation efforts in China's non-ferrous metals industry, and improve the economic and social benefits of the enterprise.
